Changes in the energy system over the last decade have resulted in system voltages and stability becoming increasingly challenging to manage. We have seen a continual decrease in minimum demand, reactive power consumption, system inertia and short circuit level. As we move to enable the zero-carbon operation of the system by 2025 and beyond, we need to ensure that we have all the services we need to be able to operate the system with only renewable sources of energy.
We are currently looking for x2 Power System Engineers. The role of this team is to determine the future system requirements, provide technical support to long-term Network Services tenders (previously known as pathfinders) to procure the services NESO will need, and drive changes to existing processes to test these new solutions. Whist doing this, we engage with various teams within NESO and with a wide range of industry stakeholders.
