About the role

Are you passionate about empowering postgraduate students and enhancing their university experience? Imperial College Union is hiring a Postgraduate Representation Coordinator to lead key developments in student representation and democratic engagement. In response to our recent Democracy Review, this role will play a vital part in strengthening student representation structures and embedding postgraduate engagement throughout Union decision-making. You'll work alongside Officer Trustees and the Representation Team to ensure that students feel heard, supported, and empowered across all Imperial campuses.

What you would be doing

As the Postgraduate Representation Coordinator, you will be at the heart of ensuring an excellence of experiences for our postgraduate students and helping them succeed in their endeavours. You'll help shape how postgraduate students are represented, heard, and supported, driving initiatives that empower students and influence policy from the ground up.

This role is both strategic and hands-on, offering an exciting mix of training delivery, community building, and organisational development.

What we are looking for

We're seeking a thoughtful and proactive individual who thrives on championing student voice and fostering inclusive communities. You'll bring a strong background in supporting volunteers, delivering training, and navigating democratic structures in higher education or similar environments. Your communication style will be clear, confident and empathetic, whether working one-on-one with student leaders, facilitating group sessions, or liaising with senior stakeholders. You'll be someone who can balance strategic planning with hands-on delivery, and who approaches challenges with flexibility, creativity and care.

You'll have a deep interest in the student experience and understand how to build meaningful engagement, especially among postgraduate communities. We're looking for someone who can bring insight into issues affecting diverse student groups and who is committed to equity and representation. If you have experience building partnerships, designing inclusive programmes, and supporting initiatives that empower others to lead change, you'll feel right at home here.

What we can offer you

Please note this role is with the Students' Union. We're a registered charity in our right, with our own governance, systems, processes, and objectives. However, we work extremely closely with Imperial College London, so you'll also be joining a wider community of staff working within higher education. If you've never worked in a students' union, or are unsure why it's different, we encourage you to get in contact. It's a brilliant place to work.

As an employee of Imperial College, you will be part of lively community and work in a friendly and relaxed environment. Our aim is to provide to all our employees an encouraging and relaxed working environment with an emphasis on personal development and work-life balance. Based on that we offer:
