About the Role
American Insulated Panel is seeking a hands-on, highly organized Operations Manager to lead all aspects of our manufacturing shop. This role will be responsible for daily shop management, scheduling, ERP system accuracy, team performance, and driving continuous improvement across departments.
You will work closely with our engineer to translate project needs into actionable production plans, manage a team of shop employees across multiple departments, and ensure we meet deadlines without compromising quality or safety.
We’re looking for someone who earns respect by leading from the front — a person as comfortable working shoulder-to-shoulder with the crew on the floor as well as working directly with the management team.
Key Responsibilities
Production Oversight Own day-to-day operations of the shop: scheduling, personnel management, workflow monitoring. Ensure projects stay on time and within scope across all departments: Panels, Doors, Fabrication, and Shipping/Receiving. Translate plans from the engineer into clear production schedules. Inventory Oversight Own all inventory movements. Work with shipping and receiving team to ensure accurate inventory records Own monthly inventory counts, reconcile discrepancies Team Leadership Supervise all shop personnel — hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance reviews, and corrective action as needed. Maintain a strong and respectful culture of accountability, collaboration, and safety. Be present and hands-on when needed: assist on the floor, troubleshoot equipment, and step in to support production bottlenecks. Time tracking and time sheet management ERP & Data Management Maintain accurate production data and reporting in Acumatica ERP. Ensure that production orders, inventory movement, and production tracking are properly entered and reconciled. Process & Continuous Improvement Identify and implement improvements in speed, quality, organization, and efficiency. Standardize procedures where appropriate and train team members accordingly. Develop and Monitor KPIs and drive measurable results in production performance. Maintenance & Safety Develop and manage preventive maintenance plans for all shop equipment. Ensure shop cleanliness, safety standards, and OSHA compliance. Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issues as needed. Purchasing Fulfill purchasing responsibility for all shop needs, including raw material inventory, tools, and miscellaneous parts Enter and manage POs in Acumatica ERP Work with vendors to achieve best pricing and lead any vendor quality resoluations
What We're Looking For
5+ years in a manufacturing, production, or shop operations leadership role. Strong organizational and communication skills — able to coordinate across people and departments. Proven hands-on leadership style — must be comfortable jumping in on the floor. Experience with ERP systems (Acumatica , but not required). Solid mechanical aptitude — able to troubleshoot equipment or pitch in when needed. Track record of building and leading high-performing teams. Comfortable balancing urgency with quality and safety.
Experience
Background in construction products, custom fabrication, or light manufacturing. Experience implementing process improvements Familiarity with custom job shop environments (not just mass production).
