Phonics Intervention Teaching Assistant

Full Time | £100 per day | Immediate Start or After Easter

A primary school in Scunthorpe is seeking a knowledgeable Phonics Intervention Teaching Assistant to support early reading development and deliver structured, high-impact phonics interventions. Strong experience in Little Wandle or ELS delivery is essential, along with the ability to adapt support for pupils with different levels of need.

Key Requirements

• Considerable experience running phonics interventions
• Strong knowledge of Little Wandle and/or ELS
• Confident supporting pupils with mixed ability levels
• Skilled in delivering short, focused and consistent daily sessions
• Able to assess pupil progress and adapt sessions accordingly
• Strong communication skills for liaising with teachers and reading leads
• A patient, motivating and encouraging approach

Role Responsibilities

• Leading targeted phonics groups and 1:1 interventions
• Delivering scheme-accurate lessons that follow Little Wandle or ELS
• Supporting pupils with blending, segmenting, decoding and fluency
• Tracking attainment and reporting progress
• Creating a positive, structured environment that supports early reading success
