Peeler / Skilled Machine Operator \n\nShift Pattern: Rotating shifts, up to and including 21-shift system\n Hours: 42 hours per week\n Salary: Circa £34,000 per annum + shift allowance \n\nThe Role\n\nAdept is recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing client for a Peeler / Skilled Machine Operator \n\nThis is a skilled, hands-on position responsible for the set-up, operation, and ownership of peeling machinery and associated equipment, supporting the production of high-quality metal products in a safety-critical manufacturing environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nPrimary Duties\n\nSet up and operate peeling machines and ancillary equipment, including saws\n\nCarry out in-process inspection to ensure quality and dimensional compliance\n\nManage swarf removal and maintain safe, clean working areas\n\nSafely move materials using cranes, FLTs, and sideloaders\n\nWork flexibly across shifts to support production demand and absence cover\n\nActively participate in company-led initiatives relating to safety, quality, and performance\n\nContribute to continuous improvement activities, including problem solving, method improvement, efficiency data collection, and set-up reduction\n\nMaintain high standards of housekeeping (5S)\n\nCarry out operator-level machine maintenance, including pre-start checks, lubrication, and clean-down\n\nTrain and support other team members as required\n\nComplete effective and efficient shift handovers\n\nSkills, Experience & Qualifications\n\n5 GCSEs at grades A-C (or equivalent); relevant industrial experience will also be considered\n\nProven experience in a machining or heavy manufacturing environment\n\nExperience working with metal and complex alloys\n\nDemonstrable ability to take ownership of machines, processes, and standards\n\nStrong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement\n\nPersonal Attributes\n\nTeam-focused with a willingness to share knowledge\n\nAccountable, reliable, and disciplined in applying standards\n\nComfortable using data to support decision making\n\nPride in maintaining a safe, organised, and efficient workplace\n\nExcellent timekeeping and attendance\n\nFlexible, driven, and able to work to tight deadlines\n\nAt Adept Resourcing - Commercial & Engineering, we specialise in connecting companies with top talent that drives innovation, growth and success.
