TPF Recruitment are supporting a reputable, large independent firm of Chartered Accountants who are seeking an experienced Payroll Supervisor to join their Southampton team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a people-focused practice that prides itself on strong client relationships, high-quality service delivery and a collaborative working culture.\n\nThe firm supports a wide variety of business owners and company directors throughout all stages of their business lifecycle, as well as providing personal financial and tax planning advice.\n\nThe Payroll Supervisor will play a key role in the delivery of payroll services across a diverse client portfolio. You will bring strong technical expertise, exceptional organisational skills, and the ability to oversee multiple payrolls accurately and efficiently.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nOversee the full processing cycle for weekly and monthly client payrolls, ensuring precision, compliance, and prompt completion.\n\nAct as the main client contact for payroll matters, delivering excellent service and addressing queries swiftly.\n\nCheck and authorise all payroll calculations, statutory payments, pension deductions, and any necessary adjustments.\n\nManage all HMRC requirements, including RTI filings, tax code changes, and statutory reporting obligations.\n\nAssist clients with onboarding, system configuration, and provide clear guidance on payroll procedures.\n\nWork closely with colleagues, HR teams, bookkeepers, accountants, and pension providers to support smooth payroll delivery.\n\nEnsure records are maintained to a high standard and comply with GDPR and data security protocols.\n\nProvide guidance and support to other members of the payroll team as required.\n\nRequirements\n\nDemonstrable payroll background, gained within a practice or bureau environment.\n\nSolid knowledge of PAYE, NI, statutory entitlements, auto-enrolment, and UK payroll regulations.\n\nExperience with Staffology or IRIS payroll platforms is advantageous.\n\nStrong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.\n\nEffective time management skills with the ability to oversee multiple client payrolls.\n\nClear and confident communication skills with a strong client service focus.\n\nBenefits\n\nSalary circa £33,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualification status.\n\nOpportunity for career progression and professional development within a reputable and growing firm.\n\nSupportive and collaborative work environment, where your contributions are valued and recognized.\n\nExposure to diverse clients and industries, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth.\n\nCommitment to work-life balance, with flexible working arrangements available.\n\nPlease contact Joe Potter on (phone number removed) (tel), (phone number removed) (mob), , or via  for a confidential conversation. \n\nRefer a friend...\n\nWe’re keen to remain the leading provider of the best accountancy talent in the South-East.
