An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Coordinator to join a fast-paced and growing organisation. This is a newly created role with a strong focus on payroll, offering the chance to take ownership of key processes and act as the main point of contact for all payroll-related activity.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of payroll, working closely with an outsourced payroll provider and internal stakeholders.
The Role
As Payroll Coordinator, you will act as the internal payroll expert, managing the end-to-end coordination of monthly payroll for a large workforce. You’ll be responsible for preparing and validating payroll data, overseeing the payroll process delivered by an external bureau, and ensuring all activity is compliant with current legislation.
While the role includes some HR administration, the primary focus is firmly on payroll accuracy, governance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee the monthly payroll process via an outsourced payroll provider

Ensure all payroll data is accurate, validated, and submitted within strict deadlines
*
Act as the main liaison between the business and payroll bureau
*
Manage and maintain payroll records in line with compliance and audit requirements
*
Handle and resolve payroll queries, providing expert guidance to employees and managers
*
Produce and reconcile monthly payroll reports and journals
*
Ensure payroll processes align with current legislation and internal controls
*
Support benefits administration in relation to payroll
*
Review employee data to ensure payroll readiness and accuracy
*
Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiencies
Skills & Experience Required
*
Proven experience in a payroll-focused role
*
Strong understanding of payroll processes, legislation, and compliance
*
Experience working with outsourced payroll providers
*
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
*
Strong Excel and analytical skills
*
Confident communicator with the ability to handle queries effectively
*
Experience with payroll and HR systems (e.g. HRIS, time & attendance systems)
*
Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
*
Payroll qualification (e.g. CIPP) is highly desirable
