Our client is a well-known and reputable HGV dealership in Livingston. Currently they are looking for an experienced Panel Beater to join their team.
Panel Beater / Vehicle Body Repair Technician
Job Purpose
To repair and restore vehicle bodywork to manufacturer and safety standards following accident damage, wear, or corrosion, ensuring high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect damaged vehicles and assess the extent of bodywork repairs required
Remove damaged panels and parts using appropriate tools and techniques
Repair, realign, or replace body panels, frames, and structural components
Carry out metal shaping, dent removal, welding, brazing, and bonding
Prepare vehicles for painting, including filling, sanding, and priming
Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards
Use jigs, measuring systems, and diagnostic equipment accurately
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment
Follow health & safety procedures at all times
Complete job cards, estimates, and repair documentation accurately
Work collaboratively with painters, estimators, and other technicians
Skills & Competencies
* Strong knowledge of vehicle body repair techniques
* Ability to read and interpret repair manuals and specifications
* Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
* High attention to detail and quality
* Good time management and ability to meet deadlines
* Problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications & Experience
Recognised qualification in Panel Beating / Vehicle Body Repair (or equivalent)
Proven experience as a Panel Beater or Body Repair Technician
Knowledge of modern vehicle construction (steel, aluminium, composites)
Valid driver’s licence (preferred or required, depending on role)
Health & Safety
* Must comply with all workplace health and safety regulations
* Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly
* Report hazards, incidents, or defects promptly
Working Conditions
Workshop-based role
May involve standing for long periods and manual handling
Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and chemicals
Performance Indicators
* Quality and accuracy of repairs
* Turnaround time and productivity
* Compliance with safety standards
* Customer satisfaction and rework rates
