Paint Shop Team Leader

We are seeking an experienced Paint Shop Team Leader to take ownership of our client's paint shop operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will lead from the front, delivering high-quality powder coating and wet spray finishes while driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.
You will play a key role in developing the paint shop into a centre of excellence, ensuring production targets are met and quality standards are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Ownership
Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the paint shop
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of paint shop operatives
Plan and allocate work to meet production schedules and priorities
Set and maintain high standards of workmanship, organisation, and discipline
Identify and implement improvements to processes, quality, and efficiency

Technical & Production
Carry out powder coating and wet spraying to a high industrial standard
Prepare, mask, and inspect components prior to coating
Operate and maintain spray booths, ovens, and paint equipment
Perform aluminium pre-treatment processes including Iridite NCP (training provided)
Work to SOPs, technical data sheets, and safety data sheets
Monitor production progress and report issues or overruns

Quality
Ensure all finishes meet specification and quality requirements
Carry out in-process quality checks and maintain accurate records
Investigate defects, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
Promote a “right first time” quality culture

What We're Looking For
Essential:
Proven experience in powder coating and wet spraying within a manufacturing environment
Previous experience as a Team Leader, Supervisor, or Senior Paint Sprayer
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
High attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset
