SISKIN PRODUCT DEVELOPER/DESIGNER

The Role

We are looking for an experienced product developer/designer who loves working with natural fibres and slow fashion.

The job involves working closely with the owner/creative director to turn her ideas into reality by finding the right fabrics and manufacturers at the right price.

You will be part of a small team who execute the SISKIN product strategy here at MamaOwl.

We are looking for a self-motivated, very experienced, and enthusiastic person, with great verbal and visual skills who can work both on their own and within a team.

This role is based on site at our offices in Leyton, East London.

Part -time role 3 days a week.

Salary £40-45k (pro-rata to 3 days a week)

Must be able to:

• Take a creative garment product idea and make it happen.
• Bring strong and relevant sourcing knowledge within both the kids and womenswear market.
• Bring a strong address book of relevant manufacturers within Europe.
• Bring experience of working with both designers and garment techs/pattern cutters and have a strong understanding of garment construction.
• Bring design experience, ability to create tech packs and CAD illustrations.
• Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring timely completion of all key stages from initial concept through to final delivery.
• Manage our supply base, regularly checking where we have gaps and highlight any areas of concern with ability to communicate poor performance.
• Manage and maintain the critical path in alignment with Sales and Marketing timelines, proactively identifying and resolving delays or disruptions.
• A strong negotiator, driving cost price reviews, attractive lead times and delivery phasing to align with brand needs.
• Collaborate with Owner/Creative Director and M.D. to research market trends and explore innovations, identifying competitive opportunities and translating into actionable strategy.
• Attend fit sessions and work closely with designers and pattern cutters to provide feedback, ensure garment accuracy and be adept and troubleshooting any fit or construction issues and highlighting risks to any branding application to the product.
• Drive supplier management and selection, ensure that partnerships align with our core business values from quality, ethical and sustainability.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to support product launches, provide accurate product specifications and assist in photography or promotional planning.
• Work closely with Customer Service to highlight any faulty product or fit and effectively take action to resolve or recall.

• Great ideas and enthusiasm for natural fibres and conscious living.
• At least 10 years in a product development role either with a retailer or manufacturer.
• Superb written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to initiate, implement and follow through a project.
• Flexible in approach and strong on teamwork. Excellent people skills.
• Intermediate Google Sheet, Excel and Powerpoint skills, as well as some experience working with project management tools.
• Experience with Adobe illustrator
