The Royal Hotel Ullapool 2026 Season We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager to lead our hotel operation for the 2026 season. This is not a desk role and it is not a food-led role . The restaurant and kitchen are independently operated, so this position is focused on the overall control of the hotel business rooms, front office, guest experience, staffing, standards, compliance, cash control, and the care of the property. We need a proper hotel operator someone who understands how a business runs day to day, knows how to keep control of it, and can lead from the front with strong standards, consistency, and attention to detail. What the role requires You will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the hotel, ensuring the operation is well organised, well presented, financially controlled, and professionally managed at all times. This means: maintaining high standards across bedrooms, public areas, front office, and guest experience taking ownership of financial control , including cash handling, reconciliations, and understanding where money is moving through the business ensuring strong control of fire safety, health and safety, compliance, documentation, and record-keeping looking after the physical property , with regular checks, maintenance follow-up, and pride in presentation leading a seasonal team in a clear, practical way, setting expectations and helping people understand the standards required staying close to the detail and being visible in the operation, rather than managing from behind a desk Who were looking for This role would suit someone who: has solid hotel management experience, ideally in a busy seasonal or high-turnover environment is naturally hands-on , organised, and methodical has strong operational instincts and good commercial awareness understands the importance of cash control, compliance, and proper procedures takes pride in standards and knows how to embed them in a team can work independently, make decisions, and keep the business under control notices what others miss and follows things through properly We are not looking for a purely administrative GM, and we are not looking for someone whose background is mainly food and beverage. We are looking for someone who knows how to run a hotel operation properly, protect standards, look after the building, and keep control of the business. The setting The Royal Hotel is a 55-bedroom, rooms-led operation inUllapool, serving a busy seasonal market driven by tourism, touring traffic, and ferry trade. This is a role for somebody comfortable working at pace in a seasonal coastal environment, while maintaining consistency, standards, and calm control throughout the season.
