Operations Manager

Freightserve recruitment are looking for an Operations Manager for a busy well-established Freight Forwarder based in the Colnbrook, Berkshire area.

In this position you lead the LHR Import and Export teams to ensure a maximum qualityof customer service, process compliance and overall operational excellence. You lead the team to make sure the optimal quality for the company, as a company, is delivered to its customers in full compliance with rules and regulations while optimizing the profitability for the company.

Key tasks and responsibilities:-

Ensure smooth Operational Performance

* Optimization and control of procedures and processes.

* Develop, maintenance, review and issuance of customer/shipment/ department/station related sop's Communicate these to the LHR team, sales team, and overseas offices.

* Monitoring/Reporting and Improving of KPIs.

* Timely invoicing, BCR control, PO accruals, Milestone Updates etc.

* Closely monitor cost and GM on a shipment level.

* Handling of freight consignments (AIR/OCEAN/RAIL).

* Preparation of transport solutions and freight calculations & quotations.

Manage, lead and build a team

* Leadership, motivation, assessment, and development of the operational staff.

* Lead by example: You set the commitment and attitude needed for a team to prosper and achieve the goals set in a professional and friendly environment.

* Manage the team on a daily basis.

* Set clear staff Roles & Responsibilities, expectations and conduct regular appraisals with staff to ensure compliance and motivation.

* Ensure the back-up system during staff absence to guard service quality.

* Support with recruitment of the right talent together with the DM LHR and HR.

* Make work schedules and planning where required in line with operational need.

* Team Building.

Compliance

* Ensure customs, AEO and security compliance: review, test and advice on internal compliance processes, maintain DV’s and AEO/Customs compliance at LHR station.

* Timely and diligently manage claims according to company procedures, maintain claims handling knowledge and follow-up with filing of claims as per company standards.

* Complaint processing and invoicing.

Procurement and Vendor management

* Closely manage vendor relationships and conduct contract negotiations.

* Make sure that the station has the best possible buying rates in place for ad-hoc or RFQ enquiries.

* Correspondence with partners and customers in the national and international area.

* Build up strong relationship with customer, focus total customer satisfaction.

* Guiding and Supervision of customers Implementation process.

Business Development

* Supporting incoming RFQ’s (MEC internal & Agents).

* Support the sales team proactively with pricing (when requested) and sales leads (old customer database, consignees for routed business, etc.).

* Develop and drive consolidation products (Import/Export).

* Attend business reviews, customs visit with the sales team or management when required. Ensure proper reporting and statistics for business reviews.
