Young people are known,valuedand supported over time not as problems to be fixed, but as people with potential.A £3m refurbishment of our historic buildings, our home since 1950, was recently completed. This has enhanced our flexible venue spaces, which we let during the daytime to theatre companies and businesses. This commercial activity generates crucial income to support our work with young people.About the roleWe are recruiting a versatile andcommercially-orientedOperations Manager to manage the facilities, develop rental income and providetimelyandaccuratefinancial and administrative management support.Reporting to the Senior Youth Worker, this hands-on role includes:Managing the buildings and facilities, working with external contractors where appropriateSustaining existing and securing new income from space rentals and other commercial opportunitiesSupporting fundraising and grant income applicationsFinancial and budget planning,monitoringand reporting, with the support of a part-time bookkeeperOversight of IT, administration and facilities management policies,processesand systemsEnsuring compliance with all relevant regulation, legislation and Health and Safety requirementsCrucial to our success will be the Operations Managers identification with our mission and values, and their ability to work collaboratively with the Senior Youth Worker and youth work team.What you will bringExperience of income generation (lettings, grants or similar)Experience managing buildings and facilities, including maintenance,contractorsand regulatory complianceGood understanding offinancial management, including budgets and year-end accounts, and working with accountants and bookkeepersExperience with QuickBooks,Xeroor similar systemsA proactive, hands-on working style and ability to work independentlyReliability,thoroughnessand strong problem-solving skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationshipsStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreamsIT literacy, including MS Office and implementing new systemsA clear commitment to safeguarding, equality of opportunity and inclusionWe offerSalary of £25,000 per annum (£50,000 full time equivalent)18 hours per week over 2.5 days15 days annual leave (full time equivalent 30 days) plus statutory holidaysEmployer contribution of 5% into the Alford House pension schemeHow to applyEastsidePeople is supporting Alford House with this recruitment.
