Operations Coordinator | Derby | up to £32,000 | Permanent
The Opportunity Are you a proactive "get-it-done" professional who thrives in a fast-paced engineering environment? We are looking for an Operations Coordinator to act as the central engine room for a leading rail specialist in Derby. This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit back; it’s for a self-starter who understands the "why" behind their tasks and can work autonomously to ensure site projects are mobilised, tracked, and delivered to the highest standard. With a full order book and a focus on internal progression, this role offers a platform to truly grow your career within a thriving industry.
Responsibilities:
Project Coordination: Act as the central point of contact between site teams and management, leading the mobilisation and demobilisation of field projects.
Planning & Resources: Coordinate the deployment of personnel and equipment, ensuring the right assets are in the right place at the right time.
Tracking & Reporting: Maintain project trackers and production plans, producing weekly KPIs to give the leadership team full visibility on performance.
Compliance Management: Administer the Sentinel (Passport to Work) scheme and manage the asset register to ensure all equipment is calibrated and ready for use.
Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in administration and set up your own processes to ensure 100% compliance and efficiency.
The Candidate: The ideal candidate will come from a Rail or Heavy Engineering background. You must be someone who takes total ownership of your work - a "safe pair of hands" that a manager can trust to hit deadlines without micromanagement. You’ll need a sharp eye for detail, a solutions-focused mindset, and the confidence to ask questions to fully understand project requirements. Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with resource planning or project support is essential.
Location: Derby (5 days on-site with occasional travel to operational sites).
Salary: Up to £32,000
