Out-of-Hours Vets – Cambridge Night Vets

At Cambridge Night Vets, you’ll do more than “just nights.”

You’ll care for emergency cases from our subscribing first opinion practices, and you’ll also oversee inpatients and help with emergency referrals from our referral hospital (Granta Veterinary Specialists). That means a mix of triage, stabilisation, critical care, and exposure to specialist-level cases you wouldn’t normally see in a standard OOH role.

• Two vets on each evening, to manage any flurries of evening consults and a full overnight team, including 3 nurses and 2 patient care assistants.
   
• Specialist back-up available 24/7 – medicine, surgery, anaesthesia, neurology – real support.
   
• Predictable rolling rota (over four weeks) for work–life balance, with the flexibility to shape and mould this new service.
   
• A team that takes its work seriously – but has a sense of humour.

We’re looking for:

• ECC clinicians - either with experience or a keen enthusiasm for emergency cases and inpatient care
   
• Confidence when sole-charge is needed, with nurse support.
   
• Someone who communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure, and maybe even cracks a joke at 2am.
