Role Overview:

Our globally renowned aerospace client is seeking an Obsolescence Engineer to support both current and emerging defence programmes acrossits UK portfolio.The role will primarily be based in Yeovil,and will report to the Obsolescence Capability Lead within the Product Support Engineering function.

ThesuccessfulcandidatewillcontributetothedeliveryofeffectiveObsolescenceManagementservices, supporting programme sustainability, availability, and long-term supportability across complex military platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Obsolescence Capability Lead in delivering obsolescence management services acrosstheclientsportfolio,includingthedevelopmentandmaintenanceofprocessesandplans to meet evolving programme requirements.
  • Identifyobsolescencerisksandopportunitiesatanearlystage,supportingthedevelopmentof mitigation strategies and resolution plans.
  • Prepareandcontributetotechnicalbriefings,meetings,andinternalorexternalworkinggroups.
  • Attendandcontributetocustomer,supplier,andinternalprogrammemeetingsasrequired.
  • Liaisewithengineering,supplychain,training,andwidersupportfunctionstoensurealignment with programme developments and support objectives.
  • Engagedirectlywithcustomersonobsolescence-relatedmatters,providinginformedtechnical support and guidance.
  • AssistinthecoordinationanddeliveryofSupportEngineeringoutputs(includingCDRLs), ensuring timely inputs, high-quality reviews, and first-time-right delivery.
  • InterfacewiththeclientsinternationalobsolescenceteamstoensurealignmentbetweenUK solutions and global platform strategies.
  • Supportwiderbusinessinitiativessuchasqualityimprovement,safetyculture,mentoring,and capability development as required.
Skills,KnowledgeandExperience:
  • EligibilitytoobtainUKSCsecurityclearanceisessential.
  • StrongunderstandingofSupportEngineering,withspecificexperienceinobsolescence management within a military or defence environment.
  • Abilitytoanalyseandinterpretengineeringandsupportdatatoinformdecision-making.
  • Provencapabilitytoworkcollaborativelyacrossmultidisciplinaryteamstoidentifyoptimisation opportunities and improve customer outcomes.
  • ExperienceliaisingwithOEMorganisationstointegrateUKsolutionswithwiderplatform strategies.
  • Demonstratedcommitmenttoquality,withafocusonfirst-time-rightdelivery.
  • Familiaritywithinternationalsupportstandards,suchas DefStan00-600andtheASD/AIAS- Series ILS specifications, is desirable.
  • Degree-leveleducationinarelevantengineeringdisciplineispreferredbutnotessential.
