POSITION: NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, under supervision of a Radiologist you will perform nuclear medicine procedures - general and nuclear cardiology on ambulatory and hospital inpatients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider, following established radiopharmaceutical administration and image acquisition protocols.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
1. Performs high quality nuclear medicine procedures (planar and SPECT), according to established protocols, and in a timely manner. Ensures patient is positioned for optimal image acquisition. Evaluates image quality following established standards and procedures. Maintains equipment by performing quality control as required by equipment manufacturers and regulatory authorities. Collaborates with service engineers and the physicist to maintain optimal equipment function.
2. Effective communication with patients to assess ability to tolerate exam, and ensure correct exam is performed. Appropriate communication with patients’ family, while maintaining patient’s privacy (HIPAA).
3. Follows ALARA protocol to minimize exposure to patients and other staff members. Verifies that correct radiopharmaceutical is used for the right exam, right patient and via the correct route. Screens patients appropriately for status prior to the start of the exam or treatment. Safely administers radiopharmaceuticals and any other adjunct medications per protocol.
4. Maintains department supplies inventory and orders radiopharmaceuticals as needed, per established protocol. Collaborates with other hospital team members – radiology, nursing, medical staff, and Radiologists, to provide quality care.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE
ARRT-N: Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine
CNMT: Certified by the NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board)
Licensed by the Texas Medical Board and able to start ASAP
BLS: Basic Life Support through American Heart Association (AHA)
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 years working as a nuclear medicine technologist in a hospital setting. Compensation: Competitive, Paid weekly.
