Network Automation Engineer – Scalable Research & Trading Infrastructure
A technology-first quantitative research group is searching for an experienced Network Automation Engineer to help modernise and streamline its global compute and research estate. In this position, you’ll focus on transforming complex network operations into clean, reliable, code-driven systems that support large-scale analytics and latency-sensitive workloads.
What You’ll Focus On
Automated Network Delivery: Build systems that convert design intent into predictable, testable, and fully automated network changes. State & Configuration Modelling: Define structured data sources, schema, and validation logic to maintain consistency across environments. Visibility & Health Monitoring: Create pipelines that capture network health signals (metrics, logs, traces etc) and feed them into alerting or remediation mechanisms. Cross-Team Enablement: Partner with platform, systems, and network specialists to embed automation into daily workflows and long-term architecture. Continuous Refinement: Evaluate new tools, improve pipelines, and introduce safer change mechanisms as environments evolve.
What You Bring
Network Automation Experience: Practical background with Ansible for structured, large-scale configuration management. Programming Strength: Solid engineering skills in Python for building operational tooling; exposure to Go is beneficial. Linux & Networking Foundations: Comfortable with core Linux networking concepts and shell environments. Version-Controlled Workflows: Confidence working with Git-based practices such as branching, reviews, and change approval. Observability Awareness: Understanding of metrics collection, dashboarding, and log processing. Infrastructure Modelling: Experience with systems that track inventory or serve as a source of truth. Workflow Orchestration: Familiarity with task runners or automation orchestrators used to coordinate multi-step pipelines.
