Multi-Skilled Maintenance EngineerLocation: KentSalary: £49,000 per annumShift Pattern: 4 days on / 4 days offOverviewAn established and fast-paced manufacturing operation in Kent is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support production reliability across a 24/7 shift environment.The successful candidate will provide both reactive and planned maintenance support across electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring equipment performance is optimised and downtime is minimised. The role plays a key part in achieving site operational targets while maintaining full compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & EngineeringRespond promptly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns, applying structured fault-finding techniques to diagnose and resolve issues efficientlyCarry out scheduled preventative maintenance activities on production and associated equipmentSupport root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrenceMaintain accurate maintenance records and documentationAssist in the selection and management of spare parts to ensure stock availabilityContribute to continuous improvement initiatives and capital projects where requiredProvide general facilities and site support as neededHealth, Safety & ComplianceRigorously adhere to safe systems of work, including isolation procedures and permit systemsPromote safe working practices amongst colleagues and contractorsFollow hygiene, quality and operational standards appropriate to a regulated manufacturing environmentSupport a culture focused on reducing incidents, near misses and operational riskEnsure working areas are maintained to high housekeeping standardsProduction SupportWork closely with production teams to reduce downtime and improve equipment performanceEscalate significant technical issues in a timely and structured mannerProvide technical guidance and mentoring to colleagues where appropriateParticipate in training to enhance both personal capability and departmental performanceKey AccountabilitiesFull completion of scheduled maintenance tasks within designated timeframesTimely response and resolution of breakdown incidentsContribution to site safety targets, including zero lost time injuriesAccurate and compliant maintenance documentationActive participation in performance improvement initiativesCandidate RequirementsEssentialRecognised electrical apprenticeship qualificationStrong mechanical fault-finding capabilityMinimum five years experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environmentAbility to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systemsSound understanding of safe working practicesGood IT skills, including Microsoft OfficeStrong communication skills and team-focused mindsetProactive, adaptable and self-motivated approachDesirableElectrical HNC or equivalentExperience working with PLCs and automated control systemsExposure to high-speed production or packaging machineryKnowledge of regulated manufacturing environments (e.g. food, FMCG or similar)Familiarity with structured quality and hygiene standardsExperience working in temperature-controlled environmentsAdditional InformationThis role involves manual handling activities and working in chilled production areas.
