Title: Mobile Gas Engineer/Plumber - Wymott Requisition ID: 9850 We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Mobile Gas Engineer / Plumber in the Lancashire region of England. The role will involve travel across the region visiting various establishments covering approximately six sites. The base salary is between £35,504 - £44,830 dependent on experience. The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week between 08:00 – 17:00. There will be a need to work 1 in 4 weekends but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary). A van is provided (for business use only) and a fuel card is included in the package. Therefore, a driving licence is essential for this role. By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly. What you will do:
Responsible for the provision of a variety of maintenance and reactive tasks (as able in accordance with competency), with attention to detail and an uncompromising approach to compliance. Usually based in a local region but may be required to attend other regions on the contract and could be required to work at a individual site for a period of time depending on business requirements. Be AP in one or more principles across the regions, which training will be provided. Gas appliance servicing and inspection including combustion analysis and flue gas integrity testing. Tightness testing of commercial gas pipework. Maintaining gas interlock systems and mechanical ventilation installations where fitted. Reactive diagnostics and planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on high-capacity boilers, radiant tube heaters, and commercial water heaters. Work safely at all times living Amey’s Zero Code. Carry out PPM activities and reactive repairs. New works/installations/upgrades/commissioning. Follow Amey/MOJ/HMPPS security protocols including tool management. Any other duties commensurate with the role. Assist escorting duties as required. RP for disciplines within skillset.
What you will bring: Qualifications
Currently registered with Gas Safe with commercial endorsements. CODNCO1 – Core Domestic to Non-Domestic Changeover. CIGA1 – Commercial Indirect Fired Heating Appliances. ICPN1 – Installation of Commercial Pipework. TPCP1/TPCP1A – Testing and Purging of Commercial Gas Pipework. Competence in combustion control systems, ventilation interlocks, and pressure regulation. NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Plumbing (advantageous for water systems). Legionella awareness and compliance. Full UK Driving Licence. Good all-round project management knowledge. Willingness to qualify for Amey Gas & Mechanical AP/RP responsibilities. CODC1 Domestic NG core to catering core changeover. COMCAT1 Catering appliances - ranges open and solid top. COMCAT2 Catering appliances - water boilers, pressure steam. COMCAT3 Catering appliances - deep fat and pressure fryers. COMCAT5 Catering appliances - forced draught burners. CMET1 Low pressure diaphragm and rotary meters. CMET2 Diaphragm, PD and turbine meters up to 16 bar. REGT2 Non-domestic medium-pressure regulators and controls.
Skills & Experience
Basic Health and Safety. Site specific training as identified by People Manager. Basic IT skills. Proven track record in commercial gas plant maintenance, including high-efficiency condensing boilers, forced draft burners, direct-fired water heaters, and radiant tube heating. Be able to diagnose fault finding on gas appliances and associated controls. Familiarity with commercial gas installation pipe sizing and undertake complex tightness testing of installation pipework. Experience of working with elevated gas pressure supplies and working on over pressure protection safety devices. Proven track record on working with commercial water systems and understanding of water storage systems. Have experience with working with compliance of water management and Legionella. An understanding of building maintenance. Knowledge of building and system compliance (training will be provided). Experience of working within a custodial environment (desirable). Able to work at heights. Able to work independently and use initiative. Working in a commercial environment.
