Mechanical Project Manager
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee two high-value mechanical installation projects within operational HM Prison Service establishments. You will take full ownership of delivery across both schemes, managing programme, budget, quality, and stakeholder relationships in a secure and regulated environment.
Project values are in the region of £2m - £4m
Start date: May 2026
What you'll be doing
* Leading end-to-end mechanical project delivery across both sites;
* Managing subcontractors, supply chain, and site teams;
* Producing and maintaining detailed programmes;
* Reporting on cost, risk, and progress to senior management;
* Liaising with the Prison Service and client representatives;
* Ensuring all works comply with prison security protocols and regulations.
What we're looking for
* Proven experience delivering mechanical projects of comparable value (£2m–£5m+);
* Strong knowledge of M&E systems and building services;
* Excellent stakeholder management skills;
* A methodical and proactive approach to programme and risk management.
* Ideally previous experience working within prisons, secure facilities, or occupied/live environments is advantageous.
* All successful candidates must be able to obtain HMPPS security clearance prior to commencing on site — we will support you through this process.
Rate: £370 - £420 P.D (DOE)
