Mechanical Project Manager\n\nLocation: Derby, UK\n\nFull-time\n\nOperations Department\n\nAbout the Company\n\nA long-established building services contractor with several decades of experience delivering Mechanical and Electrical engineering solutions across a broad range of sectors, including industrial facilities, logistics hubs, food production, pharmaceuticals, data centres, healthcare, commercial environments, hotels, residential developments, public sector buildings and energy infrastructure.\n\nThe business supports clients from early design involvement through installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance, with a strong reputation for quality delivery and technical competence. They have successfully delivered major projects across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe and continue to grow with a focus on operational excellence and staff development.\n\nRole Overview\n\nThe Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all mechanical elements of allocated projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, within scope and to agreed timescales and budgets.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Participate in project initiation meetings and take ownership of the mechanical workstream from start to completion.\n\n * Review all project details, drawings and specifications to ensure full understanding of requirements.\n\n * Prepare and manage technical submissions and track approval processes.\n\n * Maintain and update labour tracking and allocation.\n\n * Produce weekly progress updates, identifying variations, delays or required actions.\n\n * Liaise with the client-side team, main contractor and on-site stakeholders.\n\n * Oversee procurement, delivery and installation of plant, equipment and materials.\n\n * Ensure material availability and manage supply chain coordination.\n\n * Build and monitor construction and commissioning programmes; ensure commissioning plans are implemented on site.\n\n * Manage project documentation, handover procedures and internal document control processes.\n\n * Oversee project-specific scheduling and planning activities.\n\n * Attend subcontractor meetings, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with programme.\n\n * Participate in general site meetings and follow up on agreed actions.\n\n * Highlight any innovative or project-specific improvements to senior management.\n\nEssential Requirements\n\n * Extensive experience as a Mechanical Project Manager or in a similar mechanical delivery role.\n\n * Proven track record managing large-scale mechanical packages.\n\n * Relevant qualification in construction, building services or project management ().\n\n * Strong team leadership and supervisory experience.\n\nWhat the Company Offers\n\n * Competitive salary\n\n * Ongoing professional development and training support\n\n * Employee assistance and wellbeing programmes\n\n * Health and wellness initiatives\n\n * A flexible and inclusive working environment that encourages career growth
