Expleo is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Product Engineer to support one of our key automotive clients on a maternity cover contract(7months). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to world-class product development within a fast-paced engineering environment.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Product Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and validation of mechanical products, components, and systems. Working hands-on within a multidisciplinary team, you will support the creation of innovative mechanical solutions that meet both technical performance and manufacturing efficiency requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Apply mechanical engineering principles to develop components, systems, and products involving motion (e.g., engines, vehicle systems, robotics, energy conversion, machinery).
Support the design, prototyping, testing, modification, and assembly of mechanical products and assemblies.
Collaborate closely with marketing, industrial design, and manufacturing teams to ensure products meet functional, technical, and cost-efficiency targets.
Contribute to the design and optimisation of product-specific manufacturing processes and equipment.
Lead large technical work packages with limited oversight, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
Mentor, review, and guide junior engineers within the team.
Solve complex technical problems, applying a high level of subject matter expertise.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in mechanical product design engineering, ideally within the automotive or advanced engineering sectors.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, CAD modelling, prototyping, and validation processes.
Ability to lead projects, influence stakeholders, and deliver solutions to challenging problems.
Experience operating at a specialist level or equivalent SME capacity.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
