Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to provide reactive maintenance cover during a 3-month holiday period. The role will involve attending to mechanical faults and ensuring systems and equipment are operational and safe. The successful candidate must hold a valid DBS check due to the nature of the site.
Key Responsibilities:

Attend to mechanical breakdowns and faults in a timely manner.

Diagnose and repair faults on pumps, motors, valves, pipework, HVAC, and other plant equipment.
*
Perform safety checks and basic PPM tasks where required.
*
Liaise with site teams and supervisors to report completed work and escalate issues.
*
Ensure all works are carried out in line with health and safety regulations.
*
Maintain accurate records of work completed.
Essential Requirements:
*
Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance role (e.g., building services, facilities, industrial).
*
NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
*
Experience with HVAC systems, pumps, valves, and plumbing repairs.
*
Strong fault-finding and reactive maintenance skills.
*
Full, enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain prior to start).
*
Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
Desirable:
*
Experience working in public sector buildings (e.g., schools, healthcare, government).
*
Awareness of statutory compliance related to mechanical systems.
*
Basic electrical knowledge or multi-skilled experience
