Job Description
My client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to cover a night-shift assignment. The role requires being on site for 12 hours to answer calls and act as a safety presence.
One of the gas valves is currently faulty, and the site does not have an air-gas tester. There are also occasional reports of a gas smell, so they need someone on site who can respond immediately if alarms activate or, in the event of a fire, shut off the mains.
The previous engineer was released after being found asleep on shift, so the client is very focused on reliability and professionalism.
The assignment is expected to run until the end of May.
I still need to confirm the rate with the client. For reference, the previous engineer was paid £25 per hour (umbrella). You can either work 7 days a week for the duration, or I can recruit two engineers to split the rota.
The control room does call every couple of hours, and you may also be asked to conduct occasional walk-arounds.
You must be qualified in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering or be Electrically qualified with multi-skilled experience.
