Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 depending on experience (with offshore day rate uplift)

Travel: International offshore travel as required based on project needs

Decom Engineering is a fast-growing provider of innovative R&D and engineering solutions to the energy industry, specialising in our subsea Chopsaw range and custom-built equipment. With a current focus on the IMR & decommissioning sector, we support major offshore projects across Australia, the USA, Brazil, the North Sea, and the Far East.


Following a number of recent contract wins, we are seeking a Workshop Technician with strong mechanical and hydraulic skills to join our dynamic team in Aberdeen. This is a rare opportunity to work with a dynamic and forward looking company. 


The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

As a key member of our workshop team, your responsibilities will include:

•\tBuilding, assembling, and preparing specialist equipment for mobilisation to global projects.

•\tInterpreting general assembly drawings and hydraulic schematics to carry out repairs, upgrades, and commissioning.

•\tPreparing and testing tools to ensure operational readiness and compliance with quality standards.

•\tTroubleshooting and modifying tools in collaboration with our engineering team to meet specific project needs.

•\tRigging up and down equipment for demonstration, mobilisation, and project completion.

•\tCarrying out equipment diagnostics, repairs, and flushing operations.

•\tPerforming cosmetic refurbishments, including rust removal, priming, and painting.

•\tConducting client demonstrations of our equipment and tools as required.

•\tResponsible for maintaining workshop stock control processes 

•\tUpholding high standards of safety and cleanliness in the workshop.

•\tParticipating in safety, maintenance, and project planning meetings.

•\tProgressing to lead offshore technician role for cutting scopes.


What We’re Looking For

Essential:

•\tStrong mechanical and hydraulic aptitude with a hands-on background.

•\tEffective problem-solving skills with a practical approach 

•\tFlexibility to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice.

•\tConfident communicator

•\tAbility to work independently and collaboratively across local and virtual teams.

•\tCompetency with Microsoft Office and general IT systems.

•\tFluent in spoken and written English.

Desirable:

•\tMechanical apprenticeship or equivalent technical training.

•\tExperience working with subsea tooling or cutting systems.

•\tFamiliarity with SolidWorks and 2D CAD (for viewing and interpreting drawings).

•\tForklift licence (training provided if needed).
