Mechanical Fitter

Location: Leeds Salary:  £47,147 per year Shift Pattern: 2 Days, 2 Nights, 4 Off Permanent Position

Level 3 qualified Mechanical Fitters with an electrical appreciation and experience of working on diesel engines are required to join the rail industry.

Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on heavy diesel locomotives. Diagnose and rectify faults across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Work from written maintenance instructions (VMI) and engineering drawings to carry out examinations and inspection The Candidate

Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a heavy engineering environment. Background in maintenance and examination work within sectors such as REME (ex-forces), HGV, buses/coaches, aircraft, large machinery, or ideally locomotives/rolling stock. Comfortable working shifts (earlies, lates, nights). Essential Criteria

Proven experience in maintenance and fault-finding within transport or plant-related engineering. Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in mechanical/electrical engineering. Full UK driving licence or local to the depot. Ability to pass a medical, drug & alcohol screening, and DBS check. Salary Base salary: £47,147 per year. Additional £1,(Apply online only) per annum for train driving and shunting. Up to 6 training modules available, each worth £1,500 per annum, offering potential earnings of £50,(Apply online only)+. Training modules include: Shunter training, axle & bearing engineering, electrical fault-finding, and mentoring.
