Role Overview
The Mechanical Fitter will provide mechanical support across a range of operational projects. The role involves installation, servicing, and repair of mechanical equipment, as well as supporting electrical teams on mechanical aspects of site work.
You will play a key role in maintaining and improving mechanical assets while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor and report project progress, highlighting any work outside of scope
*
Test mechanical systems and equipment using appropriate testing devices
*
Inspect mechanical systems and components to identify hazards or faults
*
Assemble, install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment using hand and power tools
*
Carry out mechanical tasks including pump replacement, screen installation, pipework installation, alignments, valve troubleshooting, and fault finding
*
Perform planned preventative maintenance on pumping systems and associated equipment
*
Ensure response times and service requirements are met
*
Support emergency and shutdown works when required
*
Complete point-of-work risk assessments
*
Follow and understand risk assessments and method statements
*
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and site layouts
Requirements
*
GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
*
Completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
*
Experience within an engineering or mechanical environment
*
CSCS card (or equivalent)
Desirable (not essential):

EUSR Water & Sewage
*
PASMA
*
IPAF
*
Confined Space (High Risk)
*
Abrasive Wheels
*
Working knowledge of pumps, pipework, motors, and screening equipment
*
Previous experience working in a site-based engineering environment
*
Strong work ethic with good communication skills
*
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
*
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
