Mechanical Fitter

Salary: £17.00ph PAYE raising to £18.79ph PAYE

Contract: 6-month contract

Shifts: Monday to Thursday 07:00 – 16:00 Friday 07:00 - 13:00

Location: Burton upon Trent

The Role

We are currently seeking Mechanical Fitter's to join a team at Barton under Needwood. This is a hands‑on role focused on carrying out servicing, overhauls and associated mechanical repairs on rail vehicles.

You will work as part of a skilled team, delivering high‑quality mechanical work safely, efficiently and in line with engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out mandatory servicing and mechanical repairs on rail vehicle systems and components.

Understand and work effectively with vehicle mechanical interfaces.

Install, maintain and repair hydraulic systems.

Carry out fault finding and diagnostic investigations to identify and rectify defects.

Essential:

Proven experience in a mechanical fitting, maintenance or overhaul environment.

Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.

Strong understanding of mechanical systems and component repair.

A flexible and proactive approach to work.

Commitment to safe working practices.

Desirable:

Previous experience within the rail, automotive, plant or transferable heavy engineering industry.

Experience working on large sub‑assembly overhaul activities.
