engstaff-in is recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading UK construction and engineering contractor delivering major building, infrastructure and engineering projects across the public and private sectors. The organisation delivers integrated construction and building services solutions across sectors including education, healthcare, commercial developments and public sector infrastructure.
Due to a strong pipeline of school and education sector projects across London, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their project delivery team on a permanent basis.
The Role
The Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of mechanical building services across multiple education projects in London. You will work alongside project managers, M&E teams, consultants and subcontractors to ensure mechanical installations are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest technical standards.
The role will involve the coordination, installation and commissioning of mechanical systems including HVAC, heating, ventilation, domestic water systems and energy-efficient building services solutions across new build and refurbishment school projects.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee mechanical building services installation across construction projects Review and coordinate mechanical designs, drawings and technical specifications Support planning, procurement and installation of HVAC and mechanical systems Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, CDM regulations and health & safety standards Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants and multidisciplinary project teams Monitor quality, programme and commissioning of mechanical services installations Attend design meetings, technical reviews and site coordination meetings Assist with testing, commissioning and handover documentation for completed projects
Essential Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services Engineering, or HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services with relevant construction experience
Additional desirable qualifications include:
Membership or working towards CIBSE or IMechE CSCS Card () SMSTS or SSSTS certification NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent H&S training Knowledge of BIM / Revit or AutoCAD software Training or certification in HVAC, heating, or energy systems
