Job Description
An established engineering business within the specialist mechanical design sector is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing design team. This role offers the opportunity to work on varied, technically interesting projects and to develop alongside an experienced and supportive engineering function.
Reporting to the Design Manager, you will be responsible for producing high-quality, practical mechanical designs and supporting projects from concept through to manufacture and installation.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce 3D models, general arrangement drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings Interpret and analyse client briefs and technical requirements Liaise with customers, suppliers, fabrication teams, and installation teams Conduct site surveys and assist with marking-out when required Support project delivery through effective communication and coordination
Essential Experience & Skills:
Strong experience using Autodesk Inventor Professional (other 3D CAD packages considered) Previous experience working within a mechanical design office environment Competent with Microsoft Word and Excel Minimum 5 years' mechanical design experience
Desirable Skills:
Experience with Autodesk Revit Exposure to BIM environments Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of mechanical components
Personal Attributes:
Willingness to learn and develop under guidance Able to work both independently and as part of a team Strong communication and presentation skills Flexible, problem-solving mindset Comfortable working at height when required
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm
