ROLE – Mechanical Design Engineer\n\nSALARY - £35,000-£45,000, dependent on experience\n\nTYPE – Permanent\n\nLOCATION – Nottingham \n\nMy client designs and manufactures bespoke products for the Defense & Security sector. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in the Nottingham area on a permanent basis.\n\nThe Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:\n\nAt least 2 years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position\nExperienced with machinery design, hydraulics, sheet metal and precision components\nStrong 3D CAD skills \nStrong practical skills – hand calculations, verification, validation, FEA, testing, prototyping\nDegree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / ONC qualified or similar in Mechanical Engineering or similar\nExperienced designing products from concept to production\nAble to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets\nAble to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry\nInnovative, accurate and passionate about design\nBe technically minded with a head for problem solving\nExcellent leadership and organisational skills\nAble to work well individually as well as part of a team \n\n The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:\n\nUsing CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings\nUsing Inventor software for design on a day-to-day basis\nBeing responsible for research, hand calculations, FEA, testing and prototyping\nManaging the full product lifecycle from concept to production\nCreating models/prototypes\nLiaising with clients and developing solutions for design specifications\nCollaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects\nMaintaining technical drawings and documentation\nProviding technical guidance and support\nSupporting product Testing, Verification & Validation\nSupporting more junior members of the team \n\n If you are interested in this position, please apply with an up to date CV as soon as possible
