Mechanical Design Engineer\n Milton Keynes\n\nUp to £38,000 per annum\n\nAre you a motivated and creative Mechanical Engineer looking to make a real impact within a global, industry-leading organisation? We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join a R&D team, supporting both the development of exciting new products and the continuous improvement of an existing portfolio.\n\nIn this dynamic role, you will take ideas from concept through to production, contributing to innovative design solutions, custom projects, and the technical excellence that keeps our client ahead of their competitors. This position offers the opportunity to work on bespoke designs, collaborate across multiple teams, and play a key part in shaping the future of our products.
This is a Permanent role and you will be reporting to the Design & Development Manager.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nNew Product Development (NPD)\nCollaborate with the Design & Development Manager to bring new product visions to life.\nApply sound engineering principles to generate innovative mechanical solutions.\nPerform analysis and simulations to validate concepts and ensure performance.\nPrototype, test, and validate designs alongside cross-functional teams.\nSupport smooth transitions from development to manufacturing.\nMonitor product performance, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement improvements.\n Custom Project Support\nWork with stakeholders to define project requirements and objectives.\nConduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for custom solutions.\nDevelop conceptual and detailed designs using SolidWorks.\nProduce accurate engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.\nCollaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams for seamless delivery.\nContribute to design reviews and customer meetings, implementing feedback.\n Project Design Management\nTrack project timelines, identify risks, and support mitigation strategies.\nCoordinate resources and communicate updates internally and externally.\nMaintain design files, reports, and technical documentation.\nProduce fully detailed and profitable Solution Specifications for manufacturing, including:\n3D CAD models\nDimensioned production drawings (BS8888/ISO standards)\nAssembly drawings & BOMs\nTest data and prototype evaluationsEssential Skills & Experience\n\n2+ years' experience in new product development.\nKnowledge of manufacturing processes: plastics, CNC machining, casting, sheet metal, etc.\nExposure to diverse industries.\nExperience with system design involving electrical, electronics, and control interfaces.\nSolidWorks PDM experience and strong data management skills.\nProven Mechanical Engineering design experience, from concept to delivery.\nStrong SolidWorks proficiency.\nExcellent IT capability and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.\nAnalytical mindset with strong attention to detail.\nProblem-solving ability and a practical, hands-on approach.\nAbility to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.\nCurious, proactive, and eager to learn.Interested?
