Mechanical Design Engineer (Structural & Electromagnetic Analysis Focus)

Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead detailed design and advanced
simulation work. You will join a team supervised by a Senior Engineer and advised by
colleagues who designed some of the highest-performance tokamaks in the world. The role focuses on creating high-fidelity CAD models, performing structural finite element analysis (FEA), and conducting electromagnetic modelling to support innovative product development for extreme environments.
Key Responsibilities:
● Perform 3D CAD design and detailed modelling of mechanical components and
assemblies using industry-standard tools like Fusion360
● Carry out thermal and structural analysis and assessment of mechanical designs,
providing design input and implementing recommended design improvements.
● Execute electromagnetic modelling and simulation using tools like COMSOL
Multiphysics.
● Optimize designs based on simulation results to meet safety, performance,
reliability, and manufacturability targets.
● Collaborate with other engineers (electrical, systems, manufacturing) to develop
integrated designs.
● Work with external suppliers and collaborators to assist and guide the
development and manufacture of the components and systems that will come
together
● Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations of analysis results.
Qualifications & Skills
● MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
● 1-3+ years of relevant experience, ideally in industries involving magnetic
systems, actuators, motors, sensors, or high-precision equipment.
● Experience in designing and delivering the conceptual and detailed design of
mechanical, structural, thermal or electro-mechanical equipments
● Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, materials selection, and
tolerance analysis
● Familiarity with multiphysics simulation environments.
● Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
● Ability to work independently and in a small team
