Mechanical Design Engineer – Commercial Fit Out (Central London)\n\n£65,000 – £75,000 + travel\n2–3 days hybrid working\nPermanent position\n\nJames Lewis are assisting a well-established building services contractor in the appointment of a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the delivery of UK commercial fit out projects. This is a great opportunity for an engineer who can take ownership of design through RIBA Stage 4/5, working closely with Project Managers, coordinators and client-side stakeholders to deliver compliant, buildable solutions to programme.\n\nExperience and Qualifications\n\nTo be considered, you should have:\n\n * \n\n Degree qualified in a relevant subject (preferable)\n\n * \n\n Membership (or working towards membership) of a professional institute (preferable)\n\n * \n\n UK commercial fit out experience essential (contractor or consultancy background)\n\n * \n\n Highly proficient in mechanical design principles through RIBA Stage 4/5 across:\n\n * \n\n General fresh air, dirty extract and LEV ventilation services\n\n * \n\n Domestic services\n\n * \n\n Above ground drainage services\n\n * \n\n LTHW heating services\n\n * \n\n CHW, VRF and Hybrid VRF cooling services\n\n * \n\n Good understanding of WELL, BREEAM and NABERS requirements and their impact on design proposals (desirable)\n\n * \n\n Proficient in thermal modelling software packages (preferable)\n\nDuties and Responsibilities\n\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for:\n\n * \n\n Autonomous design of the above services, including Stage 4 calculations, plant/equipment selections and technical submissions within programme\n\n * \n\n Producing clear mark-up drawings and overseeing development with the coordination team into:\n\n * \n\n 3D Revit / fabrication models\n\n * \n\n Stage 5 installation drawings\n\n * \n\n Attending internal and external meetings, including client-facing sessions\n\n * \n\n Working closely with Project Managers and the wider delivery team, providing technical support as required\n\n * \n\n Maintaining commercial awareness and understanding the cost implications of design decisions\n\nRemuneration\n\n * \n\n £65,000 – £75,000 (dependent on experience)\n\n * \n\n Travel\n\n * \n\n 2–3 days hybrid working\n\n * \n\n No additional perks\n\nShortlisting is underway, so please apply quickly to avoid missing out
