Job Description
Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Accrington (On‑site)
Join a specialist engineering team designing and delivering advanced, bespoke machinery used across multiple industries. This is a hands‑on mechanical design role where you’ll take concepts from initial idea through to manufacture, test and customer delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing
Creating conceptual and detailed mechanical designs for bespoke machinery. Ensuring compliance with Machinery Directive and relevant standards. Carrying out Risk Assessments, FMEA and engineering calculations. Supporting design reviews and contributing to technical discussions. Preparing required technical and legislative documentation. Liaising with customers and suppliers on project requirements. Producing content for operation and maintenance manuals. Designing components suitable for cost‑effective manufacture. Supporting mechanical build teams during assembly, testing and commissioning. Providing customer support when needed. Promoting safe working practices across all engineering activities.
What We’re Looking For
Mechanical design experience within machinery, automation or bespoke equipment. Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and calculations. Experience with FEA, risk assessment and FMEA. Knowledge of Machinery Directive compliance. Confident working with cross‑functional engineering teams. Strong communication skills, including customer and supplier liaison. CAD proficiency and experience designing for manufacture (DFM).
