M&E Senior Quantity Surveyor
A leading building services engineering contractor is looking for an M&E Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their South West regional team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of projects while supporting and developing junior commercial staff. You will play a key role in financial management, risk control, and contract administration, ensuring successful delivery of MEP projects.
You will be responsible for protecting the company’s financial position, ensuring adherence to commercial procedures, and driving value for money. This is a hybrid role split between the office and regional sites in line with the company’s flexible working policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Management
*
Coordinate with the Regional Director/Manager and Managing Quantity Surveyor.
*
Manage commercial administration on live contracts to ensure financial success.
*
Prepare and approve accurate draft subcontracts.
*
Ensure timely submission of main contract payment applications, claims, and final accounts.
*
Produce accurate monthly cost and value reports with financial forecasts.
Support in dispute avoidance and resolution.
Leadership & Team Development
*
Supervise, mentor, and develop junior commercial staff.
*
Lead and manage commercial meetings.
*
Support contracts managers in managing subcontractor performance and timely completion.
Contract & Risk Management
*
Ensure compliance with contract notices and submissions.
*
Assess risks and value them in conjunction with the wider project team.
*
Negotiate with clients and subcontractors to secure favourable terms.
Requirements:
*
Strong understanding of the construction industry and MEP processes.
*
Proficient in measurement, valuation, and reading drawings/specifications.
*
Knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT, NEC).
*
CIS knowledge and experience with COINS or similar ERP systems.
*
Experience in final accounts, value engineering, and major works procurement.
*
Proven leadership and mentoring experience.
*
Professional membership (e.g., RICS) desirable.
*
Proficient in MS Office Suite.
