If you care about quality, safety, and getting things right first time this could be the role for you!The RoleWere looking for a Materials Testing Technician (Ready Mixed Concrete) to join our RMX technical team, to be based at our Coventry Concrete Plant. Reporting to the Technical Manager, youll play a key role in maintaining concrete quality and compliance, carrying out sampling and testing across Coventry and the Midlands.This is a hands-on, operational role, working at both Tarmac and customer sites - not a traditional lab-based position. Based at our Coventry Plant this role is also supporting our Concrete plants across the West Midlands and it is easily commutable from Coventry, Leicester, Nuneaton, Bedworth, Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Solihull, Rugby, Hinckley, Tamworth and surrounding areas.Key ResponsibilitiesSampling and testing ready-mixed concrete products in line with British StandardsEnsuring all sampling procedures are followed, understood, and fully documentedMonitoring product quality for both internal and external customersIdentifying quality issues and escalating them to the Technical Manager, supporting resolutionAssisting with investigations into quality complaints and queriesVisiting other Tarmac sites when required to support sampling and testing activityWorking safely at all times, including manual handling within personal capabilityMaintaining full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental proceduresWhat Were Looking ForYoull ideally have experience gained in a ready mixed concrete sampling and testing environment or alternatively a site-based technical role within construction, aggregates, or concrete productionYoull also demonstrate:A strong work ethic and self-motivationGood communication skills with colleagues, managers, and external stakeholdersConfidence to work independently but also as part of a wider technical teamAttention to detail and the ability to spot potential risks or non-conformancesConfidence working independently across multiple sitesBasic IT skills and strong numerical ability (calculations and result interpretation)A flexible approach to work and travelA clear commitment to health and safetyFull training and development will be provided where needed.Why This Role Stands OutHands-on, varied work no two days are the sameA small, supportive technical team environmentOpportunity to work across multiple sites and broaden your experienceA vital role supporting concrete quality on live operational sitesWhy TarmacAt Tarmac, who you are matters as much as what you do.
