Job Title: Materials Lab Support Technician Salary: £32,000 Location: Ampthill Contract: FTC (24x Months) Sector:Defence/Aerospace Working Pattern:(Mon - Thu > 37.5hrs) Role Overview We are seeking a Materials Lab Support Technician to assist in the day-to-day operation of the Materials Laboratory. Working closely with the Materials Engineer, you will support testing, analysis, and general laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with company, industry, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities:Operate and maintain analytical laboratory instrumentsConduct routine chemical, mechanical, and thermal testing, recording accurate resultsPerform visual inspection of product samples, identifying defects and recording dimensional dataCarry out basic calculations (e.g. concentrations, percentage deviation) and compile data reportsManage laboratory consumables, including stock control, distribution, and rotationSet up, dismantle, clean, and store laboratory apparatus and glasswareMaintain a clean, organised, and safety-conscious laboratory environmentPerform and record routine calibration checks on equipment (daily/weekly)Identify and report non-conformances, supporting investigations and corrective actionsLiaise with internal stakeholders to prioritise testing requirementsSupport experimental design and data interpretation under senior guidance Essential Skills & Experience:Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skillsBasic knowledge of chemical testing processesAbility to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) accuratelyBasic problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot minor issuesGood communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team Security Clearance Requirements:To Start: BPSS clearance requiredJBRP1_UKTJ
