Job Description
Material Planner\n\nEmployment type: Full-time, permanent\n\nAbout the role\nWe are working in partnership with a leading manufacturing organisation to recruit a highly organised and proactive Logistics Planner / Material Planner. This is a key role within the supply chain team, responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling materials and logistics to support production schedules and customer demand. You will ensure that the right materials are in the right place at the right time, while maintaining efficiency and managing costs.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nMaterial Planning\n\nCreate and maintain material requirement plans (MRP) based on production schedules, forecasts, and customer orders\n\nReview Bills of Materials (BOMs) and inventory levels on a regular basis\n\nManage raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to maintain optimal stock levels\n\nLiaise with the logistics/ purchasing teams to ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials\n\nTrack supplier performance and resolve any shortages or delivery issues\n\nMonitor lead times and adjust planning parameters where required\n\nCoordinate engineering changes and product phase-ins/phase-outs with minimal disruption\n\nLogistics Planning\n\nSchedule inbound and outbound shipments to meet production and customer timelines\n\nWork closely with logistics providers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to manage transport requirements\n\nEnsure compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations and documentation\n\nOptimise transport costs while maintaining service levels\n\nTrack shipment status and take action to resolve delays\n\nMaintain accurate delivery calendars and proactively communicate any changes\n\nCross-Functional Coordination\n\nCollaborate with production, warehouse, procurement, quality, and sales teams\n\nProvide materials status updates in daily/weekly production meetings\n\nContribute to capacity planning and production scheduling\n\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain\n\nSystems & Reporting\n\nGenerate and analyse reports on inventory, material usage, delivery performance, and logistics costs\n\nInvestigate root causes of planning or delivery issues and support corrective actions\n\nAssist with the implementation or improvement of planning tools and systems\n\nKey Skills & Experience\n\nStrong knowledge of supply chain, logistics, and inventory management principles\n\nPrevious experience in a Logistics Planner, Materials Planner, or similar role\n\nExperience using ERP/MRP systems\n\nExcellent organisational and time management skills\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving ability\n\nConfident communicator able to work cross-functionally\n\nAbility to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities\n\nHigh attention to detail and accuracy
