About the role
As a Marine Advisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in Marine aspects for projects. The key focus areas are to provide nautical assurance and support for projects commencing from early concept phase to operations to ensure delivery of safe, most cost competitive solutions for a wide range of bp entities. This includes support to the Integrated Gas & Power, Gas & Low Carbon Energy, Low Carbon & Trading, LNG Origination and Trading teams as they continue to develop their business and in turn delivery of their supply obligations to counterparties.
What you will deliver
Provide marine design assurance for bp projects.
Oversee nautical interfaces which include navigation, cargo transfer, pilot, port authorities, mooring and ship/shore interfaces for FSRU, FLNG, FSU and onshore terminals.
Keep abreast of maritime regulations, policies, industry best practices, codes and standards affecting design, quality, and processes.
Influence stakeholders to resolve nautical issues across all project phases which include concept, detailed design, testing, commissioning and operations.
Continuously improve marine design assurance process for projects.
Lead discussion with external stakeholders such as port and pilot authorities on nautical matters.
Support and manage interfaces with assurance teams to ensure terminal acceptability.
Influence project teams to adopt safe, efficient and fit for purpose solutions.
Participate and support process safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, 3D models, PFD, P&ID) performed internally in bp or outsourced.
Support the ship and shore interface marine activities during pre-FEED, FEED or EPC phases.
Lead the bp shipping team capability building on marine projects.
What you will need to be successful
Essential Education:
STCW Class II/2 certification.
Essential Experience / job requirements:
Experience as Master / Chief Officer on oil, liquefied gas tankers.
Knowledge of marine ship/shore interfaces such as port and terminal operations for both onshore and offshore.
Sound knowledge of the relevant maritime codes and regulations as well as industry best practices and standards.
Operational experience in handling oil or chemical or liquefied bulk gases.
Ability to analyse and develop proposals and solutions to various nautical design and operational problems.
Proven ability to deliver clear, structured technical reports.
Desirable criteria:
Experience or knowledge of applying Metocean data to marine operations and infrastructure planning.
Understanding of core project management principles.
Participation in ship, terminal, ship to ship transfer operations or assessment.
