Location: Skelmersdale (On-Site Role)

Salary: Up to £23.08

Industry: Manufacturing / Engineering

Contract: 6-Month initial contract but high chance of extending

Scope:


A large manufacturing operation is seeking an experienced Production Leader to support day-to-day assembly operations within a fast-paced production environment. Working closely with the Operations Manager and other Production Area Leaders, this role focuses on delivering daily performance across safety, quality, service, cost, and employee engagement, while also driving short-term improvements and operational excellence.

This is a hands-on leadership role, suited to someone who can quickly take ownership, lead teams effectively, and operate confidently under changing priorities.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide front-line leadership and supervision to production employees within the assigned area.
  • Lead daily operations to ensure safe, on-time, and in-full delivery of customer orders.
  • Drive safety performance by identifying hazards, maintaining risk assessments, and closing safety actions.
  • Establish and lead Tier 1 meetings, coaching operators on first-line problem solving and quality conformance.
  • Run Tier 2 performance reviews, monitoring output, yield, quality, cost, and order status.
  • Collate and contribute performance data and reports for Tier 3 reviews.
  • Influence and engage teams to adopt change, improve processes, and enhance operational performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at cost reduction and operational efficiency.


About You:

  • Proven supervisory or production leadership experience (required for immediate effectiveness).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of safe manufacturing operations (e.g. manual handling, LOTO, COSHH).
  • Ability to prioritise work, lead under pressure, and get the best from teams in a changing environment.
  • Experience working in a clean manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Exposure to automated or semi-automated processes and fine detailed assembly work.
  • SAP knowledge (training and support can be provided).
