Morson is currently recruiting a manufacturing enigneer on behalf of Marshall Land for their Cambridge site. This role sits within the aerospace sector and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex manufacturing and production engineering activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a capable and proactive Manufacturing Engineer to support production and manufacturing activities across the full product lifecycle. The successful candidate will be comfortable working cross-functionally, contributing to both ongoing production and future programme development.
Key Responsibilities Comply with the Marshall Business Management System (BMS) and Lifecycle Management (LCM) processes.
Contribute to the Project Management Plan (PMP) and Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP), supporting the production and manufacturing approach.
Support bid teams through the development of concept solutions, work breakdown structures, and production/manufacturing estimates.
Review product concepts and detailed design solutions, recommending manufacturing improvements to reduce cost, simplify processes, and reduce lead times.
Carry out Production Engineering drawing checks for new and revised parts.
Develop standard manufacturing and assembly processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
Identify requirements for jigs and fixtures and support their development in line with the assembly approach, including Statement of Work (SoW) generation.
Determine the preferred Condition of Supply (CoS) for parts and components.
Review existing and proposed processes to ensure validity against Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) requirements.
Communicate process changes effectively to Operations teams.
Perform or support root cause analysis relating to product quality issues and assist in the implementation of corrective actions.
Review and assess new technologies and develop manufacturing processes that reduce cost, improve quality, or increase efficiency.
Promote a continuous improvement culture through the application of lean manufacturing techniques.
Advise on systems, facility layouts, and capital equipment to enhance manufacturing and assembly processes, supporting capital expenditure, methods, and commissioning as required.
Manage and control own workload in line with budget and schedule requirements.
Ensure accurate booking to costing and budget systems.
Contribute to personal development planning.
Skills & Experience Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with an interest in emerging technologies.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and represent the department externally.
A dynamic, proactive, and solutions-focused approach.
Broad knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes.
Experience working within a regulated, quality-driven production environment aligned to AS9100 standards.
Demonstrable experience in a similar Manufacturing or Production Engineering role.
Ideally hold a relevant technical qualification appropriate to the role.
