Managing Quantity Surveyor (Managing QS) Energy Infrastructure Newport

An outstanding opportunity for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a flagship major energy infrastructure project in Newport.

This Managing QS role offers leadership of a commercial team on a high-value energy scheme, hybrid working flexibility, and a clear progression route to Commercial Manager.

The Role Managing QS / Commercial Lead

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility for multiple work packages within a major energy project, leading a team of Quantity Surveyors and driving commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing Quantity Surveyor commercial lead on major energy / infrastructure packages

  • Leadership and management of Senior QS and Quantity Surveyors

  • NEC3 / NEC4 contract management and compliance

  • Cost planning, forecasting and commercial reporting

  • Commercial risk management and value engineering

  • Subcontract procurement strategy and oversight

  • Variations, compensation events and final accounts

  • Reporting to senior leadership with progression to Commercial Manager

Managing Quantity Surveyor Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor / Senior QS ready to step up

  • Strong background in energy, utilities, infrastructure or civil engineering projects

  • Extensive NEC contract knowledge (essential)

  • Experience leading commercial teams

  • Strong cost control, reporting and commercial strategy skills

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management

  • Ambition to progress to Commercial Manager
