Role Overview

The Managing Director – Engineering & Projects is responsible for leading and delivering the Engineering & Projects function, overseeing the full project lifecycle and driving growth across Europe and international markets. The role ensures safe, compliant and reliable delivery, strong client relationships and effective performance of assigned teams.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the safe, compliant and reliable delivery of Engineering & Projects, ensuring all SHE, legislative and business requirements are met.

* Oversee the full lifecycle of engineering and development projects.

* Develop and deliver growth strategy (Europe and beyond) aligned to business plan targets.

* Prepare, manage and deliver the Engineering & Projects Department business plan, providing monthly progress updates to the Board.

* Manage internal and external client relationships, ensuring service excellence.

* Ensure business compliance and risk management meets quality, insurer, and competent authority standards.

* Design strategies for future development projects across px Fairport, px Lifte H2 and px Engineering & Projects.

* Review and update policies and procedures to comply with the Company Operating System.

* Support the Executive Committee and contribute to corporate targets as part of the leadership team.

People Leadership

* Lead and manage assigned personnel with overall responsibility for supervision, development, welfare and performance.

* Ensure team engagement, performance management and wellbeing.

* Maintain competence within the function through training, qualifications and development activities.

Education & Experience

* Engineering Degree qualified.

* Proven leadership experience within a Tier 1, 2 or 3 Engineering / Projects business.

* Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering growth strategy and business plans.

* Board-level reporting and strong commercial awareness.

* Excellent organisational, planning, communication and negotiation skills.

* International experience – developing engineering / projects businesses outside the UK.

* Experience establishing new engineering offices in new markets.

* Strong problem-solving / troubleshooting capability.

Health, Safety & Behaviours

* Promote and maintain px Group Zero Harm standards and risk management practices.

* Ensure team compliance with Level 2 behaviours and the px Behavioural Competency Framework.

* Complete required management development programmes and maintain competence for the role.
