We’re looking for a proactive, skilled Maintenance Supervisor to take ownership of our school site and make a real difference every single day.At The Holden School, you’ll play a vital role behind the scenes ensuring our buildings, grounds and facilities are safe, secure and fit for purpose so our students and staff can thrive.About the RoleThis is a varied, active and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You’ll take the lead on day-to-day maintenance, security and grounds work, responding swiftly to issues and coordinating both planned and emergency works. It’s a hands-on position that combines practical skill, independence and strong communication with staff and contractors.Key ResponsibilitiesKeeping the site safe and secure – opening and closing buildings, acting as a key holder and responding to emergency call-outs when requiredHands-on maintenance – carrying out repairs, decorating and general upkeep without contractor support where possibleHealth & safety responsibilities – completing routine checks, fire alarm testing, drills and water hygiene monitoringSystems monitoring – overseeing heating, cooling and lighting systems and reporting faultsContractor coordination – arranging, supervising and signing off planned and emergency worksSeasonal and specialist tasks – gritting, spill clean-ups, graffiti removal and keeping grounds tidyLogistics and stock control – furniture moves, porterage, equipment management and waste collectionPride in presentation – ensuring the school always looks clean, well maintained and welcomingSafeguarding, Compliance and Professional PracticeFollow all policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety, security and confidentialityReport any concerns promptly to the appropriate senior staff memberUphold company values and maintain high standards of professional conductParticipate in training, performance reviews and ongoing professional developmentCarry out duties efficiently, effectively and economically at all timesWho we are looking:Full UK Driving LicenceProven experience maintaining buildings and facilities to a high standardStrong practical, DIY or handyman skillsPrevious caretaking, maintenance or grounds experience (school or similar setting desirable)A proactive, reliable and self-motivated approachPride in your work and a commitment to excellenceAbout UsThe Holden School is an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged from 5 to 16, catering for pupils with a wide range of needs in Lancashire, Manchester and surrounding areas.
