Maintenance Engineer

Location: Thornaby

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Salary: £35,000 per annum

We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to support a busy production facility. The site consists of three 50x35m units and is the sole production location in the UK, with limited automation and operator-led machinery. This role is key to ensuring equipment uptime and smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities for the maintenance engineer:

Carry out reactive maintenance and breakdown repairs on production machinery (approximately 80% reactive, 20% PPM)

Perform routine preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime

Diagnose and repair faults-most commonly on cutting machinery

Support general site maintenance including lighting, shutter doors, and building infrastructure

Order and manage materials and parts needed for production

Liaise with nearby workshops and external contractors as required

Skills Required for the maintenance engineer:

Pneumatics

Fabrication

Pumps

Belts, Bearings, Chains

Electrical Skills Required:

Single-phase and 3-phase systems

DC electrical systems
