Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Shift Based)

• 6:00am – 6:00pm
• 6:00pm – 6:00am

Location: Leicester area
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Hours: 42 hours per week

The Opportunity

An established, forward-thinking manufacturing business is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team during an exciting period of investment, automation, and growth. This is a critical role supporting a 24/7 operation, offering excellent long-term stability, development, and progression.

Reporting to the Engineering Shift Manager, you will ensure plant, machinery, and services operate safely, efficiently, and reliably to support production targets and supply chain demands.

Key Responsibilities

Planned and reactive electrical and mechanical maintenance across site assets

Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime

Supporting production teams to improve machine reliability and performance

Root cause analysis of breakdowns and implementation of preventative solutions

Ensuring machinery, tools, and equipment are maintained for safe use

Accurate recording of maintenance activity using CMMS and KPI systems

Compliance with all Health & Safety, SOP, PTW, GMP, and regulatory standards

Managing and coordinating third-party contractors when required

Supporting continuous improvement and preventative maintenance strategies

Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and asset care

About You

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering

Multi-skilled background with a strong electrical bias (mechanical knowledge essential)

Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Confident working on control systems, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and building services

Logical, methodical approach to fault-finding and repairs

Comfortable working night shifts and rotating patterns

Proactive, reliable, and safety-focused with a strong work ethic

Able to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities

Automated manufacturing experience desirable

Industry-specific experience is advantageous but not essential. Attitude, adaptability, and willingness to learn are highly valued.
