About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Shift Technician to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining and improving production equipment to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.You will work across both mechanical and electrical systems, carrying out planned preventative maintenance as well as reactive repairs. This role also involves supporting continuous improvement and helping train operators in best practices.Working Hours (Rotating Shifts)Early Shift:MondayThursday: 06:00 15:15Friday: 06:00 14:15Late Shift:MondayThursday: 12:45 22:00Friday: 13:45 22:00Key Responsibilities Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on plant and machinery (mechanical & electrical) Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime Prioritise workloads and complete tasks to a high standard Update maintenance records using a CMMS system Order and manage spare parts when required Support installations, upgrades, and contractor activities Participate in the on-call rota and respond as needed Promote a safe working environment and follow all HSE procedures Provide guidance and support to colleagues where required Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation Build strong working relationships across departments RequirementsEssential Experience working in a multi-skilled engineering team within a manufacturing environment Ability to work independently on maintenance and repair tasks Strong fault-finding skills (mechanical and/or electrical) Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds or equivalent) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (mechanical or electrical) Good understanding of health & safety practices Computer literacy, including CMMS systems and basic Excel Strong communication and teamwork skills Desirable Experience in food manufacturing, FMCG, or pharmaceutical environments Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and automation systems (fault finding, not programming) Pneumatics, fabrication, or welding experience Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition Personal Attributes Logical and methodical problem solver Calm under pressure with a proactive mindset Professional, reliable, and safety-conscious Strong team player with good interpersonal skills Committed to maintaining high standards of quality and hygiene JBRP1_UKTJ
