Job Description
Maintenance Engineer – Machine Shop
Gloucestershire – Permanent – Full-time – Days – Salary £40,000-£45,000
We’re supporting a well-established precision manufacturing business that is investing in its machine shop capability and strengthening its internal maintenance function.
This role plays a key part in ensuring statutory compliance, minimising downtime, and maintaining a safe, high-performing production environment.
The Role:
· Carrying out day-to-day maintenance, servicing and repair of CNC and machine shop equipment
· Mechanical fault finding across pumps, compressors, rotating machinery and associated systems
· Supporting hydraulic, pneumatic and compressed air systems
· Maintaining HVAC and general building services within the production environment
· Conducting PAT testing in line with schedule and maintaining accurate records
· Supporting risk assessments and permit-to-work systems for maintenance activities
· Assisting in the management and control of contractors to ensure H&S compliance
· Planning and communicating maintenance activities to minimise production disruption
· Supporting future machine shop development projects
· Maintaining tools, spares and maintenance inventory
· Ensuring high standards of housekeeping and 5S across the site
The Person:
· Proven experience within a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment
· Strong understanding of CNC machinery and associated plant
· Mechanical maintenance background with fault-finding capability
· Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
· Understanding of safe systems of work, permits and risk assessments
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
· Self-motivated and capable of working with limited supervision
· Good planning and organisational skills
· IT literate (Excel, Word, Email)
· Forklift licence (Desirable)
· PASMA / IPAF (Desirable)
· City & Guilds 2377 PAT Testing qualification (Desirable)
